Validations

Validations refers to:

  • CHESS business validations;
  • CHESS business rules; and
  • ASX Settlement Operating Rules.

Business validations are checks that CHESS conducts on transactions prior to processing them. For example, when a Change of Controlling Participant Request is submitted, CHESS will validate that the requestor is not already the Controlling Participant of the Account (HIN) subject to change. Applicable validations are covered in the technical documentation functional specifications and APG.

The term business rules, referenced in the technical documentation as “Business Values and Rules”, describes valid values (business values) and the applicability of these values (business rules). For example, where an existing Controlling Participant rejects a Change of Controlling Participant request, they must provide a reason for rejection, which can be one of three allowable business values.
